Quest is now on
JENNA Atherton isn't concerned by the extra competition, she just wants more young women to join the Jacaranda Queen quest for 2012.
It's not that she doesn't think she has an edge over other candidates (her husband David was a secret judge in the queen quest last year). Jenna signed on as the third Jacaranda Queen candidate on Wednesday and said she just wanted to meet people.
"I'm not going to see the other contestants as competition, I'm just going to see it as a bit of fun," Jenna said.
A lifelong Grafton resident who attended Westlawn Public School and Grafton High School, Jenna is employed as a hairdresser at Sharyn's Hair Affair in Grafton and is sponsored by the Grafton District Services Club.
She said she had always been interested in the festival and the queen competition but admitted to being a bit nervous.
With David being involved last year she "went to just about everything", including the ball, and decided she had to run.
"It was just amazing to see how much goes on behind the scenes," she said.
She already has an Easter raffle organised and is working on her fundraising plan.
