Romney's dog controversy continues

THERE were those who hoped that the ghost of Mitt Romney's dog had finally been laid to rest, that it would no longer stalk this presidential campaign. But Seamus is back.

As has been previously reported, extensively, Seamus was the Romney family Irish setter.

In 1983, the Romneys set out on their annual family holiday from Massachusetts to Ontario, a 12-hour drive.

Mr Romney bundled his family into the station wagon and set off with Seamus in a cage strapped to the roof.

On the way to Ontario, Seamus lost control of his bowels, prompting an unplanned stop where Mr Romney, apparently a man of sturdy conviction, hosed down the car windows and continued on his way.
