Milat, Klein face sentencing hearing

A SYDNEY court has continued to hear chilling evidence about the moments leading to the murder of a NSW teenager who was decapitated with an axe by one of serial killer Ivan Milat's young relatives.

David Auchterlonie, 17, was killed in the Belanglo State Forest in November, 2010.

On Monday Matthew Milat, the 19-year-old great-nephew of notorious backpacker murder Ivan and his friend Cohen Klein fronted the NSW Supreme Court for the first part of their sentencing hearing.

Both pleaded guilty to murder at an earlier date.

Their victim's family told the court of the "agonising pain" they had felt following his death.

Disturbing poetry taken from Milat's home and phone recordings of the actual murder were tendered to the court.

Milat reportedly teased his victim in the lead up to the murder by waving the axe above his head

According to News.com, court documents reveal Milat said he was "doing what my family does".

The hearing is expected to finish on Tuesday afternoon.
