Dog is best man for best friend
KERRILEE Fehlhaber, formerly Morris, wasn't the only one turning heads at her wedding.
The former Rockhampton woman shared the spotlight with her husband Chris's german shepherd, Jed, which donned a suit to be the couple's ring bearer at their Sunshine Coast ceremony in October last year.
"We'd had him for two years and it got to the point where we couldn't imagine him not being there," Kerrilee said yesterday.
Kerrilee met Chris in Rockhampton in 2006 while participating in a modelling competition at Strutter's Nightclub, where Chris was a DJ.
The couple have since moved to Brisbane, but their families still live in Rockhampton. Kerrilee's mother, Carol Morris, described Jed as "a person in a fur coat".
"He was very well behaved on the day," she said.
Carol supplied images of the ceremony recently to run in The Bulletin's wedding section
. Jed carried the rings down the aisle in a small bag attached to his collar and stood beside the groomsmen for the ceremony which was held at the Crowne Plaza Resort at Pelican Waters.
Carol, who made Jed's suit, even wrote a speech for the reception pretending to be him.
"The best man read it out and it had everyone in fits of laughter," she said.
Kerrilee said it was a great surprise.
