Killer flu strain in NSW
RESIDENTS in NSW are being warned about a killer flu strain believed to have claimed the lives of three people in the Hunter region this week.
Two men aged in their 60s from Kanangra and a 40-year-old woman from Stockton died after exhibiting flu-like systems.
Aged care facilities in the area have gone into lock-down in an effort to protect residents from the potential outbreak on influenza A.
According to the Herald, more than 50 residents at Kanangra's Morisset Hospital have been quarantined after showing symptoms of the flu.
NSW Health is expected to issue an alert today.
