TWO Southern Cross School K-12 Year 11 students have been selected for Global Young Leadership conferences.
Angalee Narayan-Gray and Amelia Perris, both aged 16, were nominated for the leadership development program by their school.
The 10-day conferences bring together young people from around the world "to build critical leadership skills in a global context".
Founded by a former high school teacher, the conferences are designed "to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them the opportunity to explore cultural differences first-hand, absorb diplomatic skills daily, build confidence and enhance decision-making skills".
Angalee will head to Beijing on July 24, while Amelia is going to Washington and New York in the United States on July 1.
Both are excited about the opportunity to meet young people from around the world, and share ideas about the world.
Amelia will visit the United Nations offices, while Angalee will experience a different culture and political system.
Both girls are involved in the local community, which is one of the reasons they were nominated for the conference.
The girls are now busy organising a fundraising raffle.
They will be selling tickets in the coming weeks at shopping centres in Ballina and at school.
