SUFFOLK Park stunner Lauren Funnell is kickin' ass, taking names, and achieving her dreams.
The passionate 24-year-old football player has received a contract to play for a US team in the Lingerie Football League.
Ms Funnell told media she wanted to play in the Lingerie League from the first time she saw a game on TV about five years ago.
"I knew I was interested when I saw my first game, it was something completely different and the female athletes were all just so amazing looking," she said.
"I wanted to play in the States, but it seemed like an unrealistic goal to start with, so I worked closely with the gridiron division in Queensland towards the launch of an LFL here.
"It has been a slow process and although teams for an Aussie LFL have been selected and training has commenced, the league won't officially launch until December.
"After we succeeded in getting the league to Australia I had the chance to visit teams in America and train with them."
This visit led to an offer to play for Cleveland Crush, a team in the US Lingerie Football League, Ms Funnell said.
"I am very excited to be fulfilling my goals."
Ms Funnell will play with the Cleveland Crush for the 2013 season before she heads back to Australia to play the inaugural season as team captain for the Queensland Brigade in 2014.
"It is an amazing sport with a lot of inspiring female athletes," she said.
"It has shown many young women that you can achieve your goals, no matter how unrealistic they may seem."
"[It is] the lingerie that initially gets the audience's attention, and then it is the athleticism behind the sport that keeps them in," Ms Funnell said to The Northern Star last year.
Ms Funnell understood people might have a problem with the league but argued the game promoted a healthy body image.
