‘Council officer a fake

A BALLINA resident recently reported that a man visited their home in Fox St, impersonating a rating officer of Ballina Shire Council.

The offending person asked questions relating to the council rates and house occupancy information.

A spokesperson for council said they were "extremely concerned" that it could be a canvassing exercise to identify information relating to the people who live in the home.

"Council wishes to assure residents that council officers will always identify themselves by providing photo identification," the spokesperson said.

"All residents should only provide information to any people visiting their homes once photo identification has been provided."

If any you have any questions about council rating information, phone 6686 1299.
