THE sight of someone tucking into a cupcake would hardly raise an eyebrow.
The sight of a dog doing the same thing is a different story.
Food connoisseurs of the canine variety joined their two-legged friends to test the delicious offerings at Cupcakes for Pupcakes Day in Buderim yesterday.
I Love Cupcakes owner Tanya Arnold said she used to make cupcakes in her spare time, but after changing her diet last year to cut her flour and sugar intake, she began making pupcakes instead.
"For me cakes are important to everyone. They are used to celebrate birthdays and special occasions, so why not make them for dogs," Mrs Arnold asked.
"I eat organically and I make my pupcakes with all natural and raw ingredients because that's also what dogs need nutritionally and what they would eat in the wild.
"There are some people out there making pupcakes and treats for dogs but I hadn't come across anyone making them using natural and raw ingredients."
Mrs Arnold said the day, which she helped organise, was about celebrating dogs because of the joy they brought to people's lives.
Just like us, they deserved cake.
It was also a chance to raise much-needed money for the RSPCA.
"The RSPCA does so much for animals. Both of my dogs have been rescued, so it was a good opportunity to give something back," she said.
