Logan receives bravery award
THERE is no doubt Ballina's Logan Ridgeway is a very brave little boy - and he has the certificate to prove it.
The two-and-a-half year-old was all smiles last Sunday when he was awarded his Bravery Certificate at the Our Kids Day Out in Ballina.
The sun shone on the day - and it was impossible not to feel the warmth of little Logan's personality as well.
But the young fella has had a tough life.
He was born with a rare chromosome abnormality - one of just three kids with the condition in the world - which means he can't walk or talk, and is fed via a tube.
But the big news announced at the Our Kids event was that he is now commando crawling - and that was met with applause from the crowd.
Mum, Mandy, is pleased that Logan hasn't been in hospital for the past eight months - and that's the longest stretch he has had without a hospital stay.
"He's been through a lot," Mandy said.
She described Lismore Base Hospital as their "second home", and is ever-grateful to the care Logan receives.
Our Kids supports children's medical services throughout the region and the annual Day Out is a celebration of the brave little kids who need that care.
