DIVERGENT

Author: Veronica Roth

Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Aust

RRP: $24.99

DIVERGENT is one of those novels that will stay with you long after the final page; it asks the question: “Could this really happen?”

The film rights to Veronica Roth’s debut novel have already been bought by Summit Entertainment, creators of films like the Twilight series and The Hurt Locker.

Divergent centres on Beatrice, a 16-year-old growing up in a perfect world where no one steps out of line, no one messes up and no one goes against the flow.

It is a world which is divided into five factions, each dedicated to cultivating a particular virtue, and on an appointed day all 16-year-old must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives.

Beatrice is forced to choose who her true friends really are and where her loyalties lie – a decision that will change the lives of those around her.

Divergent is a brilliant story just right for the teen fiction market. If you like science fantasy this should be on reading list.
